Artist statement: I am a professional photographer located in Phillipston, a rural town in Massachusetts. I live on a small farm and thoroughly enjoy photographing the rural countryside that surrounds me. I particularly enjoy photographing beautiful Tully Lake in Royalston in all sorts of weather, in particular foggy days. I also teach photography at Mount Wachusett Community College.

Artist statement: Originally from upstate New York, I have spent most of my career on the windward side of Oahu, Hawaii. My studio is now in Wilmington, Vermont. Being a true "Daily Painter" means subjects can include "Anything that will sit still long enough to be painted". Depending on the day, this can lead to: portraits, alla prima still life, plein air landscapes, or seascapes. Proud member of the Putney Painters and working part-time as a conservationist for Richard Schmid's paintings.

Artist statement: This portrait is of my daughter, Olivia. Olivia is my oldest daughter, she is confident and sweet which shows in her smile and tilt of head. This portrait is only one in a series that I am painting of my nuclear family.

Artist statement: I first embraced infrared photography on a trip to Iceland more than a decade ago and am drawn to its impact on black & white imagery. When I view a subject with the intent of photographing it in infrared I've learned to pre-visualize the added detail, tonal range, aura and alterations to the spectrum of light that we don't normally see. But color speaks volumes as well in ways that removing it often cannot, and I can feel equally drawn in when it feels subject appropriate.

Artist statement: My father loved to garden. Tuberous begonias, geraniums, petunias and tulips filled our garden. My parents always encouraged our creative selves, filling our lives with opportunities to learn and express ourselves visually. It seems to me to be a natural extension that I find myself devoting a great deal of my practice to the exploration of flowers.

Artist statement: I am a painter and a musician with two degrees in English literature. In trying to piece together how these disparate elements influence my art, I realize that I have always just wanted to be part of something beautiful and add to the dialogue of creativity. When I think about why I paint what I paint, I realize that whether I am painting a still life or a portrait of my daughter, I am really just attempting to paint light…and the passage of time….

Artist statement: I have sometimes wondered, if Howard Roark from Ayn Rand's The Fountain Head was real how I would have liked his work. I think I would have liked to shoot it, and it would please me to capture the austere concrete he sculpted with. I would have liked his hard lines, and sharp decisions. I think I find myself looking for his work in the real world and shooting what he may have imagined. I guess a girl can dream.

Artist statement: This painting captures the joyful expression of childhood innocence. The vibrant turquoise Korean clothing (Hanbok) is detailed with coloful embroidery, creating a beautiful contrast to that of the gray background.

Artist statement: I am a self taught artist who loves to bring animals to life. I started to dabble with painting using acrylics around 2016, which was not giving me the details I desired. I switched to using pastels in 2019 and after years of trial and error and finding the best combination of paper and type of pastels, I am now satisfied with the details I can obtain to make a person or animal look realistic.

Artist statement: I like to say I click with all of the beauty that surrounds me. I zero in on the details of nature, architecture, and people to capture the essence of fleeting moments. My eye gravitates to the color, form, and drama of it all. The goal of my photos is to draw you into the stories and connect your stories with mine. Imagine the stories this gentleman could tell. And, this was days before the pandemic shutdown in 2020, so no doubt more stories unfolded.

Artist statement: Each spring, I’m inspired by the sight of great blue herons returning to Massachusetts wetland rookeries. Capturing their elegant courtship displays and vibrant breeding colors through photography connects me deeply to the rhythms of nature. I was so pleased to have frozen the motion of the herons as they crossed their bills.

Artist statement: While on Machias Seal Island, I was trying to capture photos of puffins interacting with one another. This was my favorite, with these expressive birds giving each other a little nuzzle. It has been hanging in my home for about 6 months now, and I started to notice a number of heart shapes embedded within the image.
